Lavender Chiffon Hibiscus, Hibiscus syriacus ‘Notwoodone’ (PP12,619), has large, single lavender flowers adorned with a lacy center to create an anemone-like bloom that bloom in late summer It is beautiful for use in a mixed container to create a dramatic focal point. This great large shrub can be used for landscapes and the young plants can be used in containers, but will need to be moved to the landscape as they mature. It becomes an incredible plant when pruned into a small tree. Lavender Chiffon grows in any soil unless it is either really wet or dry. This deciduous shrub grows with an, prefers full sun, and reaches 8-10 feet in height.

Lilac - Montaigne

Montaigne Lilac, Syringa vulgaris ‘Montaigne’, is an upright growing, French Hybrid Lilac with double, soft lilac-pink flowers in May. It displays an excellent, clean, dark green summer foliage. This strong, long lived, early flowering shrub prefers full sun, good drainage and air circulation. If one removes flowers as they fade, as well as older wood and suckers, it will improve the plants appearance and flower production. Montaigne can be used in many situations, including shrub borders, informal hedges and perennial borders. It is a good bloomer and grows 10-12 feet tall and 8-10 feet wide. Being very showy and extremely fragrant, it makes a wonderful screen or border specimen.

Watermelon ‘Sugar Baby’ is a 10 to 20 lbs. melon that is firm, sweet, and has red/orange flesh with small, dark brown seeds. The thick rind turns from dark green to almost black when mature. Nierembergia - Purple Robe

The Nierembergia Purple Robe (Dwarf Cupflower), ‘Nierembergia hippomanica’, is a wonderful plant either as a perennial in Zones 7 or warmer, or as an annual everywhere else. The Purple Robe is smothered with hundreds of dainty saucer-shaped flowers during the summer. The flowers are a very deep blue/violet and are saucer shaped with a 1 inch radius. This Nierembergia blooms late spring to early fall. The Purple Robe is very easy to grow.Place the Purple Robe in sun to light shade. In very hot summer locations, light shade is preferred. These plants like light, moist, well drained soils. Shear into mound shape for continuous bloom. Plant in early spring, 2 to 4 weeks before last average frost date. or in early fall if grown as a perennial. Purple Robes are used as an edging plant, in rock gardens, or in containers/window boxes.

Weeping Forsythia, Forsythia suspensa var. sieboldii, is an early spring blooming shrub with bright yellow flowers on widely arching branches. Its yellow flowers appear before the leaves. It is an excellent plant to grow as a bank cover because of its upright, arching form. Weeping Forsythia has a clean, green summer foliage with a weeping growth habit. The best growing area is in full sun with any reasonable soil, and it tolerates city conditions. Weeping Forsythia transplants well and grows rapidly. This Forsythia is useful on banks because the branches root where they touch the ground. It is a deciduous shrub 8′ to 10′ tall and 10′ to 15′ wide.
